Saint Andrew/Andrew the Apostle (O Απόστολος Ανδρέας).
This traditional hand-painted icon portrays Saint Andrew the First-Called Apostle (Ο Πρωτόκλητος Απόστολος Ανδρέας), brother of Saint Peter and one of the original disciples of Christ. Created with natural egg tempera in the Byzantine style and finished with genuine 22K gold leaf, the icon is mounted on hand-carved asymmetrical wood – a lasting tribute to apostolic faith and spiritual legacy.
Saint Andrew is called the "First-Called" because he was the first to follow Jesus. After Pentecost, he traveled widely, preaching the Gospel and eventually being martyred in Patras, Greece, on an X-shaped cross. He is honored as the founder of the Church of Constantinople and considered the patron saint of Greece and of Orthodox unity.
