This deeply moving hand-painted icon presents Saint Ephraim of Nea Makri, also known as the Great Martyr and Wonderworker. Revered as one of the most beloved modern saints of Orthodoxy, Saint Ephraim suffered a martyr’s death during the 15th century and remained hidden for centuries until his miraculous revelation in the 20th century. This icon, crafted in the traditional Byzantine style with egg tempera and genuine gold leaf, is mounted on hand-carved wood and radiates the quiet strength and compassion of this miraculous saint.

Saint Ephraim lived as a monk at the Monastery of the Annunciation on Mount Amomon in Nea Makri, Attica. During the Ottoman occupation, he was captured, tortured brutally for months, and finally martyred in 1426. His relics were miraculously discovered in 1950 following divine revelations, and since then, he has become widely known for his miraculous interventions—especially in cases of illness, danger, and despair.
