Saint Nicodemus the Hagiorite (Ο Άγιος Νικόδημος ο Αγιορείτης).
This deeply reverent hand-painted icon honors Saint Nicodemus the Hagiorite, a revered theologian, ascetic, and teacher of the Orthodox Church. Painted in traditional Byzantine style with egg tempera and adorned with authentic 22K gold leaf, the icon is mounted on asymmetrically hand-carved natural wood, reflecting the spiritual depth and intellectual brilliance of this great saint.
Born in Naxos in 1749 and tonsured a monk at Mount Athos, Saint Nicodemus became a central figure in the spiritual revival of the Orthodox world. He edited and contributed to major works of Orthodox spirituality, including the Philokalia, Unseen Warfare, and many hagiographical and liturgical texts. A defender of Hesychasm and inner stillness, he called all believers to the life of watchfulness (nepsis) and unceasing prayer.
